Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra performance

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra will have free performance on Sunday, April 7.

The event is free although donations are accepted. Attendees are encouraged to relax, listen, and enjoy music selections from light classical, show tunes and pop as they are played by talented and professional musicals.

The event will take place at Performing Arts Center and starts at 7:30 a.m.

Art competition for 38th Annual Mainsail Art Festival

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Student artists in grades K-12 are invited to compete for a chance to exhibit their artwork at the 38th Annual Mainsail Art Festival.

The festival will take place on April 20-21, 2013 in downtown St. Petersburg. The Young at Art Student Competition has been a part of Mainsail for 11 years and is a juried exhibition open to all public and private school students in Pinellas County.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The Pinellas Park Library is hosting their next Author Talk for adult readers.

This free event will take place at the library on Sunday, March 10, from 3:30 till 5 p.m.

Best -selling author Tim Dorsey will discuss his latest book, The Riptide Ultra-Glide.

A book signing will follow the program.

The library is located at 7770 52nd Street in beautiful Pinellas Park.

Origami Workshops with Virgil Manning

Pinellas Park, Florida -- Children of all ages are welcomed to join in the fun of Origami Workshops with Virgil Manning.

This free program takes places on the second Tuesday of each month at the Pinellas Park Library from 6:30 till 8 p.m.

Learn the ancient arts of folding paper and amaze yourself with the possibilities. Paper will be provided.

Registration is required and begins two weeks before each program. Children under 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

The spring schedule dates are March 12, April 9 and May 14.

This free event will take place at Park Place Wesleyan Church on Friday, March 1, beginning at 7 p.m.

The first story is about Joseph, who receives a beautiful coat from his father. His brothers become jealous when they find out, faking Joseph's death and selling him into slavery.

Local middle school teachers dress in character for I Love Reading Day

Pinellas Park, Florida -- Pinellas County Schools says this Valentine's Day teachers at Pinellas Park Middle School will dress as their favorite characters from novels and showcase their love of reading.

Teachers will read from their chosen novel and students will try to guess the characters the teachers are portraying.
