Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has set an all-time record for ridership in the month of April.

Residents have take more rides April 2013 than in any other April in PSTA history. 

Agency leaders say there are several reliable factors that can affect ridership such as fuel prices. With those costs dropping recently, they credit job growth and continued record tourism for the new high.

These are just some of the questions that will be answered at this Saturday’s Earth Care Event at the Allendale United Methodist Church, 3803 Haines Road North, St. Petersburg.

The event is on Saturday 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

This free celebration of Mother Earth will feature a plethora of resources, activities and workshops including:

Tampa Bay, Florida--  The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) invites residents from seven local counties to join in upcoming talks about the region's future transportation plans and priorities.

TBARTA reps say they will host telephone "TownHall meetings" for 10 days starting Monday, April 1.

An automated system will call between 40,000 and 80,000 per night to extend an invite to the forum, and then TBARTA reps will take it from there to answer questions and respond to comments.

Reportedly, it appears to be a car and motorcycle accident and the motorcyclist has been identified as a trauma alert. 

West bound traffic on 38 Avenue is blocked at this time.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Florida Department of Transportation has announced non-interstate lane closures for commuters  to consider while driving within the county next week.

They are as follows: 

SR 580 ( Main Street) between Enterprise Drive and Countryside Boulevard

  • Repaving – Nightly lane closures Monday – Friday from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

US 19 between Whitney Road and SR 60

PSTA announces new partnership with Amscot

PSTA announces new partnership with Amscot

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County transit riders can now enjoy the convenience of purchasing PSTA GO Cards at all 28 Pinellas Amscot locations.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Jeff Danner, PSTA Board Chairman and St. Petersburg City Councilmember, and Deveron Gibbons, Amscot’s Vice President of Public Affairs and Business Development.

The two celebrated the new partnership with a ceremonial sale of a PSTA GO Card at the Amscot Financial location at 3266 Central Ave, which is next door to PSTA’s Grand Central Station.
